Materials

Our selection of premium quality raw materials is what underlies the consistent performance of our fittings.

Resistance to Impact

The thermoplastic materials used for manufacturing the poly pipe fittings have excellent impact properties.

Abrasion Resistance

The poly fittings are suitable for the transportation of abrasive slurries and will withstand normal conditions found in urban, mining, industrial, rural water and waste water systems.

Weathering

The CONNECTA fittings offer excellent weathering properties from degradation due to ultra-violet radiation. Therefore, their use on exposed systems like watering systems or as irrigation fittings without additional protection is approved.

Electrolytic Corrosion

Connecta plastic poly fittings are non-magnetizing and do not cause electrolytic deterioration. Polypropylene has natural thermal insulation of 2000 times over copper and 200 times over steel.

Testing of Raw Material (MRS value)

The selected raw materials of the fitting body (PP-B) is tested for long-term physical behavior with successful MRS values in the range of 10 MPa, being the highest in the market.

Effect on Water

The all black poly pipe fitting does not transmit light, thus protecting the water quality in potable water pipelines from growth of micro-organisms. All the Connecta compression fittings intended to be used for potable water supply systems are manufactured with approved raw materials concerning food contact requirements. The poly fittings are fully conformed with international hygiene and sanitary requirements specified by standards such as AUS/NZ 4020, BS6920 & KTW(DE). They are certified as not being a toxic hazard to drinking water.

Fluids other than Water

Due to its molecular structure, polypropylene offers excellent chemical resistance. The fittings may convey a wide variety of fluids.

Note: Refer to our Technical Staff for additional information. Contact us for advice on specific applications.

Operating Temperature

The poly fittings are not designed to be used in hot water although they withstand the same temperature as the polyethylene pipe itself. These compression fittings withstand sub-zero temperatures. For an indication of how temperature affects the working pressure rating, see table under Pressure Rating. The pressure rating has to be adjusted as shown in this table, if the fittings are to be used in higher temperature.

Projected Life Expectancy 50 YEAR+ DESIGN LIFE

Based on the information available and the successful performance under the nominated test regime, the life expectancy is rated at 50 years before replacement or major repair This rating necessarily is only a general guide to Ife expectancy and may increase or decrease depending on the quality of the installation, operating and environmental conditions as well as other geographical and site specific factors.
